Discover the Joy in Giving

Your gifts and offerings will provide strength for ministry. Here's a look at a few of the ways your giving will be transformed into ministry for 2003:
  • Nearly $55,000 will go toward church programs and ministries including children and youth ministries, worship and instruction, and many others.
  • Over $140,000 will provide for our church's operating expenses, such as utilities, insurance, custodial services and maintenance of our facilities, so the church can continue to be busy with God's work practically every day.
  • More than $85,000 will support our United Methodist denomination and its ambitious missions and outreach programs, working to change lives, to change our community and to change the world for Christ.
  • Almost $215,000 will provide salaries for our full- and part-time staff that hold together this large effort of God's people by handling hundreds of phone calls, scheduling hundreds of meetings and events, and producing numerous copies, bulletins, newsletters and other printed materials.

Ministry requires people, and God works through all of us. God calls each of us to serve through our time, our talent, and our treasure. Please pray about your committment to God's work in 2003. Won't you consider asking God to help you discover the joy in giving he wants for you.

Planned Giving
Through Endowment Funds

For more than 150 years, this local congregation has dedicated itself to keeping the flame of God's love alive in our church, in our community, and in our world.

Local Endowment
Funds Established

To help continue and expand these efforts, the Chillicothe United Methodist Church Endowment Funds were established by your local church to provide members with a safe, permanent way to assist the local church. The Endowment Funds are held in the name of the Chillicothe United Methodist Church and are supervised by the local church's Board of Trustees.
These Endowment Funds are divided into four broad areas:

  • Building Fund
  • Beautification/Worship Fund
  • Christian Educaiton Fund
  • Permanent Endowment Fund

The Building Fund is used solely for building improvements, repairs, or eventual replacements.

The Beautification/Worship Fund is used for the beautification of the premises and for aids in worship.

The Christian Education Fund is used to meet broad Christian needs including the need for educational materials.

The Permanent Endowment provides income through earned interest and is used for all types of worthwhile local church or civic purposes as well as mission work. The principal of this fund is not spent.

How Can Endowment
Gifts Be Made?

Monetary gifts and memorials may always be donated to the Endowment Funds of the Chillicothe United Methodist Church. If you are considering a bequest, or planned gift, talk with your accountant or lawyer and consider some of these tax-saving opportunities.

Stocks, Bonds, or Securities

You may donate stocks, bonds, or securities to the church's Endowment Funds and claim a tax deductible gift at the current value of a stock, bond, or security you currently hold rather than valuing it at the purchase price.

Will or Life Insurance

Gifts to the church's Endowment Funds may be made as a bequest in your will. The church may also be designated as the beneficiary of a life insurance policy.

Charitable Remainder Trust

Through a charitable remainder trust, you may donate a percentage, or a specified amount of the trust, as a gift to the church at your death. The remainder trust may be part of a revocable trust or part of a non-revocable trust.

Gifts of Property or Retirement Plans

You may give a gift of property or cash any time! The church's Endowment Funds may be named as the beneficiary of your retirement plan.

If you desire to give a gift to the Endowment Funds, the gift designation is "Chillicothe United Methodist Church, Inc., Endowment Fund."
